Vatican After Hours Tour
Experience the Vatican Museums outside regular public opening hours, when one of the world’s busiest museum complexes becomes remarkably quieter. This Vatican After Hours Tour is one of Context’s most exclusive experiences, available only by request and subject to the Vatican Museums’ highly limited access schedule. Depending on the date secured, your visit may take place after the museums have closed to the general public or before normal opening hours. Accompanied privately by an art historian or other Context Expert, explore a carefully selected route through the Vatican collections with substantially more space to look, ask questions, and linger over works that can be difficult to appreciate during a normal daytime visit. The experience typically includes the Gallery of Maps, Gallery of Tapestries, Raphael Rooms, and other collections permitted by Vatican security and operations. The culmination is the Sistine Chapel, where approximately 35–40 minutes are normally reserved for one of the most extraordinary opportunities of the evening: seeing Michelangelo’s frescoes with only a fraction of the visitors normally present. A limited number of other authorized groups may also be inside the museums, so this is not exclusive possession of the Vatican. But compared with normal daytime conditions, the difference can be extraordinary.
