About Daniel
Daniel has a Ph.D. from Kyoto University in the history of Tourism. This examined how touristic ideas of Japan have evolved from the 19th century to contemporary times, and what historical events, artistic, intellectual and consumeristic movements have played a role in shaping ideas of Japan. His recent research looks into relations between tourism and war, and the heritage and modern history of the city he loves, Kyoto. Beyond this Daniel has studied Japanese tea ceremony and aikido, and loves good food and drink!
