Nadia Murakami
Born in Moscow in 1981, Nadia moved to Japan permanently in 2013. She has a background in art, education, and visual culture, with a particular focus on landscape painting, picture books, and art history.
Nadia holds a master’s degree from Japan, where she studied under an architect and developed a strong interest in architecture, urban space, and light. Her work during this time included creating light-based installations, and she continues to explore how design, atmosphere, and human experience intersect in the built environment.
As a guide, Nadia specializes in weaving together art, architecture, and cultural context. Her tours highlight not only visual aesthetics, but also the ideas, philosophies, and historical layers behind spaces - from contemporary architecture in Omotesando to the spatial and spiritual design of traditional sites. She draws both on her academic background and her own research, as well as personal insights gained from studying with architects in Japan.
In addition to her guiding work, Nadia is the author of an art history course on Soviet underground art (1960s–1990s), taught in Japanese, and has published two picture books combining landscape painting and traditional folk themes.
She currently leads a private university’s language and cultural exchange program, where she creates opportunities for students to engage with diverse perspectives and develop communication skills across cultures.
