James gave a wonderful tour of the museum. I appreciated both the breadth and depth of his knowledge and his unique perspective as an artist himself. He was extremely receptive to any ideas or requests to see certain galleries and works of art. He was extremely pleasant and easy to understand. I saw works of art I had never seen despite having been to the Louvre at least four times before. I would not hesitate to recommend him. Lisa

We loved the experience Susan curated for our kid-friendly food tour of Paris. We had a large assortment of sweet & savory baked goods, fresh cut meats, cheeses, handpicked fruit from the market and fresh squeezed orange juice our kids juiced themselves, to their delight. The experience culminated with a lovely picnic at the end and wonderful conversation with our guide. Could not recommend it more. The adults enjoyed it as much as the children and we all learned to appreciate the French food philosophy better.
Elise was a spectacular tour guide! She geared our tour of the Louvre perfectly for my 11 year old daughter and for me! She presented all of the information in a way that was intriguing and exciting for my daughter. With her, she brought an interactive notebook with her for my daughter to complete and take home with her that was a great interactive tool for her to remember all of the key things we saw! While 2.5 hours was enough in the heat in the museum, lol, we could have stayed with Elise all day taking in everything she has to offer! I would recommend context travel and Elise to anyone and everyone!! Ashley
Explore France Through Its Regions, Food, History, Art & Culture
France is often imagined through a handful of iconic images: the Eiffel Tower, lavender fields, vineyard-covered hills, café terraces, and grand museums. Yet the country is far more diverse than any single image can capture. Paris tells a story of monarchy, revolution, art, and intellectual life. Normandy reveals how medieval kingdoms and World War II shaped Europe. Provence offers Roman ruins, markets, and landscapes that inspired generations of artists. Bordeaux and Burgundy connect place to wine with remarkable precision, while Lyon sits at the crossroads of French gastronomy. Along the Mediterranean, Nice reflects centuries of cultural exchange between France and Italy. The challenge is not deciding whether to visit France. It is deciding which France you want to experience. The best guided tours of France help travelers move beyond famous landmarks to understand the ideas, traditions, and regional identities that shaped the country. Whether you're exploring Parisian neighborhoods, walking the D-Day beaches, tasting wine in Burgundy, or discovering Provençal villages, expert-led experiences reveal connections that are easy to miss on your own. Context Travel offers guided tours throughout France led by historians, art historians, architects, food experts, wine specialists, and local scholars in Paris, Normandy, Provence, Lyon, Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Nice.
