Hugh was a wonderful companion taking us through history with his stories and use of art work in the National Gallery. His attention to meaningful and descriptive detail brought the stories of interesting individuals and key events alive and highlighted their significance. Each story built on a previous one linking key aspects of politics, history and culture together in their significance. Nothing was extraneous and questions were answered, deepening our interest and understanding of these historical moments. By the time we reached today’s seat of politics, the fabulous Scottish Parliament buildings, we marvelled at how yesteryear’s dynamic decisions and consequences has given Scotland a unique, democratic role in today’s balancing act between nations and political groups, and wondered at what tomorrow might bring. Hugh’s storytelling powers whet our appetite to become more engaged and ask questions which were always thoughtfully articulated. His authentic and interactive approach Kept us wanting more! Thank you Hugh for sharing “your Scotland” with us in such a constructive manner. We appreciated your insights!

Jenny was an excellent tour guide. She was so knowledgeable about history and was able to convey wonderful stories about the city of Edinburgh . She related well with our grandchildren and got them involved in the tour in such a positive way. Our driver, Neil, was excellent too, and added his knowledge to the sites that we saw on the way to meet Jenny (and knew were all the best rest stops were). All in all, an excellent day with the short time we had available to visit the wonderful city of Edinburgh!
Jane was very knowledgeable and fun! We had a great tour, despite the spurts of rain.
