Joined by an expert in Mount Etna’s volcanic history, we will start from your accommodation (in Catania or Taormina) before setting off for this spectacular mountain. On the way to Mount Etna, we'll pass through ancient villages as your guide explains how locals live in the company of a capricious Mount Etna. We will quickly familiarize ourselves with the most characteristic features of Mount Etna; its fauna, flora, perfumes, colors, and the deep changes the volcano continuously influences on the surrounding landscape. Hopping back into your 4X4, along with your expert guide and driver, you will climb along an ancient lava flow before finally reaching one of the most breathtaking scenes that Mount Etna offers. If taking the afternoon tour, you will have time to absorb the sunset over this magnificent and ancient landscape.

Our private tours are limited exclusively to travelers in your party. They are designed to provide a learning experience that is completely tailored to you and your traveling companions. Private tours give you more flexibility with scheduling (you decide when the walk best fits in your trip), the ability to tailor your itinerary (we'll work to match the itinerary to the interests and dynamics of your group), and more personalized time with your guide.

Where do we meet? Where does it end?

We meet at your accommodation in the area of Catania or Taormina. Your route may differ according to your guide. Your confirmation email will have the exact meeting point details along with a map.

What if it’s raining?

If the weather forecast is such that the hike can't take place in reasonable conditions, we will try to reschedule it.

Can children join this tour?

Yes, we can adjust the content to be more appropriate for younger learners.

Can we bring outside food on the excursion?
Yes, it is recommended to have water and some snacks for the excursion. We can arrange a picnic of local specialties to enjoy during your visit. Select this on check-out.

WOW! Our experience on Mt Etna went far beyond our expectations. Roberto was a wonderful guide. Growing up and living beside the volcano, he was a wealth of knowledge. His ability to explain the way Etna has behaved over the centuries provided a historical context we really appreciated. Climbing down into a lava tube, four-wheeling next to lava flows, and hiking up a crater was amazing.
