Francisco was born and raised in Mexico City. He studied Political Science (B.A.) at ITAM and Japanese Studies (M.A.) at El Colegio de México. Ten years ago, he moved to Japan to live in a small temple at a village nearby Kyoto City. Four years later, he moved to Kyoto City to further study Japanese Language at Hanazono University. Currently, he is a PhD student at Kyoto University. He is also a researcher at the Institute for Zen Studies (禅文化研究所) at Hanazono University. His research focuses on the history of meditation manuals and meditation groups of the Rinzai Zen School in Postwar Japan. He is looking forward to visiting the temples and shrines on the streets and hills of Kyoto City with you.
