Francisco is very knowledgeable and thoughtful about he conveys his wealth of knowledge about Buddhism. He’s open to questions and dialogue about the origins of the faith and the evolution to modern practices. We enjoyed the pace of our walk thru Kyoto and we’d highly recommend the tour format with Francisco!

Susan was a wonderful tour guide for us on the Flavors of Shibuya tour! We enjoyed getting to know her and learn about not only the food scene in Tokyo, but also the way Japanese people shop and what a typical grocery store run would be like. It was fascinating the meanings for each food (whether as gift giving/or typical weeknight staple) and seasonality. It was also a nice touch to get to walk through the Shibuya crossing at night when we had finished our stops. Highly recommend!
Very informative & lots of local anecdotes & knowledge that made the whole tour brilliant. Miyo was very personable, friendly & courteous. Told us so many stories & she is obviously very proud (quite rightly) of coming from Osaka. Great communication skills & a really good grasp of English. Took us to some delightful food restaurants & was very kind to accommodate the fact that we are pescatarian. A really nice special touch was the sake, plum soda & cream sponge cake “little picnic” she had prepared. Miyo took photos & shared them with me & very kindly got 2 printed out as gifts to us whilst we were on the tour. I would highly recommend a tour with Miyo, you will have a great time, we did. Many thanks.
Japan Tours
Japan is a country where the smallest details often carry the deepest meaning. A shrine gate marks the boundary between the everyday and the sacred. A bowl of ramen reflects regional history. A quiet garden reveals centuries of philosophy, design, and craftsmanship. Without context, it's easy to admire these places without fully understanding them. Context Travel offers expert-led Japan tours in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Kanazawa, helping curious travelers connect famous landmarks to the stories behind them. Led by historians, architects, art historians, culinary experts, and local scholars, our private tours, small group experiences, and audio guides uncover the history, traditions, and cultural ideas that continue to shape Japan today.
