We recently had two Context tours during our time in Italy. The first was with Olivia in Florence at thePalazzo Vecchio and the second with Paolo on the Bologna Welcome Tour. Both guides were excellent and provided the level of scholarship that we’ve come to expect from Context. Both Olivia and Paolo were warm and pleasant to spend a few hours with in dialog about sights and the history of Florence and Bologna. We always learn so much from Context tours and wish we could have your guides on speed-dial to answer our questions during our explorations. So please give Olivia and Paolo very high marks from us. We hope to meet them again in the future.

Route Details
Nearby, the Archiginnasio Palace opens a window onto the world’s oldest university. The Anatomical Theater, intimate and unsettling, speaks to curiosity, risk, and the desire to understand the human body. Knowledge here was never abstract, it was hands on.
During your walk, your guide will bring medieval politics into focus, from the soaring towers to traces of canals tucked between buildings. How did power, commerce, and learning shape a city that still feels lived in today?
Sites Visited
- Piazza Maggiore – the civic center where publics gathered for centuries from festival to protest

Stephania was excellent; very knowledgeable, excellent English, adapted to our interests (like the market and the rice cake) and suggestion for lunch. Perfect guide.
