FAQ
The tour meets near the Tower, in an easy-to-find location away from the crowds. Your confirmation email will have the exact meeting point details along with a map. The walking tour ends within the Tower grounds.
Yes, we use a reserved entry to bypass the ticket line at the entrance.
Whilst the Tower welcomes all visitors, this historic building has places with difficult stairs and passageways and wheelchair access is limited. There are also a large number of steps throughout the Tower with cobbles laid in some of the roads. However, the Jewel House and the Crown Jewels are fully accessible to all visitors. Contact us if you have any questions regarding accessibility.
We generally recommend morning tours, as crowds can be very bad in the afternoon, especially to see the Crown Jewels. However, we can sometimes make exceptions. Get in touch if you require a different start time.

Sarah-Jane Kitching was born and brought up in London. She studied at Cambridge University and qualified as a doctor, working in the NHS initially in Gynaecology and latterly as a General Practitioner. Having gained a First in the History and Philosophy of Medicine as part of her medical training, she has now changed career to pursue her long-standing love of history and of London in particular. After two years of intensive study, Sarah-Jane qualified as a London Blue Badge Guide and was awarded Guide of the Year in 2012. She is passionate about the city she lives in with her family and loves to share its fascinating past and present with others.

Jane Hickey is a prize winning Blue Badge guide for London and day trips out of London. She grew up in her father’s hotel in Dublin, Ireland and despite early attempts to branch out she has consistently returned to the hospitality industry in various guises. She has lived in London all her adult life, qualifying as a chartered accountant with PWC where her clients included the InterContinental Hotel Group. Following a spell in finance with Trusthouse Forte Hotels she returned to the consultancy arm of PWC working in the Tourism & Leisure Group, looking at investment opportunities in the industry. She spent time in Hungary and Poland with PWC in the 90s privatizing state owned hotel and leisure groups. Having taken a break to raise her 3 children she then undertook an intensive 2 year course in London launching her guiding career. Since qualifying as a guide she has undertaken further courses in the City of London, Windsor & Eton, and she is currently studying for a Certificate in Early Medieval Art and Architecture at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Jane very much looks forward to showing her London to Context Travel visitors and particularly enjoys looking after family groups.

Imogen Rumbold is a retired solicitor living in London. She is the mother of 3 children, now grown up, but not so long ago that she cannot remember what it is like to be in children’s company! Originally called to the Bar in 1979, she then swapped sides to become a solicitor and partner in the law firm of Lawrence Graham (now Gowlings WLG), and thereafter as a partner in the niche City shipping practice of Lax & Co. Practising as a shipping litigator led to quite a lot of travel, to such places as Russia, Bulgaria and land-locked Switzerland. In 2018, Imogen retired to devote herself to guiding, thus indulging her interests in history without quite abandoning the law. She is a fully qualified tourist guide and holds the coveted Blue Badge, which permits her to lead tours in London, the Cotswolds, Bath and Stonehenge, amongst other sites. She loves sharing London with visitors, the capital city where she has lived and worked for over 40 years. She gets just as much pleasure from guiding children as she does from guiding grown-ups. Come and visit!
