What made the tour special was how he brought each food to life, from pickled plums to fish cakes to tamagoyaki, sharing the cultural significance and history behind every dish. His warmth with local vendors made us feel genuinely welcome. We were also impressed by his depth of knowledge much beyond food - a spontaneous deep dive about Zen Buddhism coupled with a visit to a shrine along the way was a highlight. Tsukiji (and many others in Japan) are places you could easily wander without truly understanding. Shigenori-san’s curated experience, thoughtful storytelling, and an excellent attention to detail changed that - highly recommended!
