Eric A.

Artist and Educator in Amsterdam
About Eric

Eric Armitage has called the Netherlands home since 1999, residing in the historic heart of Amsterdam’s old Jewish quarter—once the neighborhood of Rembrandt himself. Immersed in the city’s rich history, architecture, and culture, Eric developed a deep expertise and passion for its artistic heritage. For over two decades, he worked in education at the Rembrandt House Museum, where he demonstrated Rembrandt’s painting and etching techniques to visitors. After 22 years, Eric transitioned to entrepreneurship, founding his own business to offer private tours and hands-on workshops focused on traditional paint making.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Washington in Seattle. Much of his specialized knowledge in 17th-century painting and paint making was honed through his work at the Rembrandt House Museum and furthered by his education at Verfmolen de Kat, a renowned pigment-grinding windmill in Zaandam. As a painter, Eric continues to incorporate these historical techniques into his own artwork.
