Discover the charming valley of Luberon on this full-day tour, with a local Provencial expert. On this driving excursion, we'll explore some of the most attractive hilltop villages and authentic natural highlights of the French Province. The mild southern climate allows for the perfect preservation of Luberon's cultural heritage and scenery and April to October is the perfect time to explore.

Each of the Luberon Villages is unique, offering rich cultural histories to discover with our guide whilst wandering through picturesque sceneries. Our route may vary according to where we are initially picked up, however, we will include a range of quaint villages such as Gordes, Roussillon, and/or Bonnieux or Lacoste.

To set the scene, the 18th Century town of Gordes is scattered with marvelous, tiny dry stone architecture; it overlooks some spectacular views. Roussillon lies within the National Regional Park of Luberon and is known for its spectacular cliffs, colored by the ochre that naturally occurs in the area. (We'll learn about the village's trading history over the centuries as we discuss the quarrying of this natural pigment). We'll even walk along the ochre paths to the highest point in the village to enjoy the sweeping views with such unique coloring. We have the option of visiting the old Mathieu Ochre Factory to learn more about its history.

Another village on our tour may be the idyllic Bonnieux. We will take a stroll through Bonnieux’s tranquil streets up to the Old Church and through the ancient Cedar Grove. Beyond the cedar grove, you will be led to the ultimate experience of Bonnieux - a magnificent panoramic view of the Vaucluse Mountains. To end our trip, we will stop by at a local winery to taste some of Luberon’s delicious regional wines, followed by a short exploration of the nearby lavender distillery.

What is a private tour?
Our private tours are limited exclusively to travelers in your party. Private tours give you more flexibility with scheduling (you decide when the walk best fits in your trip) and more personalized time with your guide.

This tour typically starts in Marseille (or vicinity) at your accommodation or hotel.  Please let us know where you are staying by listing your hotel information in the "Additional Details" field at check out. Your route may differ according to your guide. Your confirmation email will have the exact meeting point details along with a map.

I am not staying in Marseille, can I still select this tour?

How many people can fit in the vehicle?
Our vehicles can comfortably fit 7 passengers.

Is lunch included in the tour cost?
No, lunch is at your own expense based on where you would prefer to stop.  Your guide will help to find a place that meets your needs and fits your budget - either a sit down meal or a quick stop along the route.

What if it’s raining?
Tours operate rain or shine, but in the case of inclement weather, your expert will modify the tour so more time is spent indoors. It never hurts to be prepared; we encourage keeping an eye on the weather and bringing along an umbrella, sunscreen, water, or a hat as needed.

Can children join this tour?
Yes, absolutely. We can adjust the time (if desired) and the content to be more appropriate for younger learners.

Is this tour walking intensive, and/or wheelchair accessible?
