The Finer Details
The Louvre is not just a museum. It is an idea about what a nation chooses to preserve. Inside these walls thousands of years of art and artifacts sit side by side, and, without a plan, it can feel like too much. Together, we cut through the scale and tell the story that ties it all together.

Each Context expert has their own preferred route to touch upon the most celebrated works the Louvre has to offer. We may begin with the Italian Renaissance and stand before Leonardo’s Mona Lisa. Why does this small portrait command such global attention, even in a crowded room? By placing her among contemporaries, we see not only a face, but a turning point in how artists imagined humanity.

From there, the journey widens to ancient history. Sculptures and artifacts ground us in the civilizations that shaped Western art, from Mesopotamia to Greece. These works are not isolated relics. They form the foundations that later painters and rulers studied, borrowed, and sometimes challenged.

We’ll shift the lens again, this time to French painting and sculpture. Royal patronage, revolution, and empire unfold across canvases and marble. What happens to art when regimes rise and fall? Here, we connect brushstrokes to politics and aesthetics to ambition.

Throughout the visit, your Expert keeps the route purposeful and the pace steady. Rather than wandering through endless corridors, you’ll move with intention, pausing where meaning deepens and stepping past what distracts. The result is clarity inside a space that can otherwise overwhelm.

By the time you return to the glass pyramid, the Louvre feels less like a maze and more like a map of masterpieces that no longer blur together. Rather, they connect to one another across centuries, and now, to you. This Louvre highlights tour is not about just seeing the Louvre — it grants understanding of why the museum matters, an understanding you’ll carry long after you’re home.

A Note on Your Tickets: To ensure you have the best possible experience, our team manually secures every Louvre entry slot. Because these tickets are in high demand, confirmation may take a little longer than usual. In the rare event your preferred time is unavailable, we’ll work closely with you to find a perfect alternative or provide a full refund.
A thoughtfully designed itinerary for novices and seasoned art lovers alike
"Would have been utterly lost in the Louvre without this tour. Saw all the 'highlights' but also a lot of other things which I would never have been drawn to - largely as I have very little knowledge around art history. Excellent explanations of how to interpret the paintings."
Don't just see - learn to read and interpret art
"This was the first time that my husband and two [teens] had been exposed to art the way it should be. Pablo is very knowledgeable, no doubt. But he was particularly outstanding in how engaging and interactive he made the visit for all of us. You could not help but share the passion he has for art and history and for helping others understand how to see and interpret the pieces. We only had time to see a minimal sample of all the Louvre has to offer, of course, but the lessons we learned will serve us for life - and I am especially grateful that my [teens] have this gift from this trip. Forget the cheap souvenir shopping - this is the stuff no one can take away from you!"

Pablo was a dream tour guide! We could not have wished for a better person to take us around. He was so knowledgeable, passionate, and so much fun. We had the absolute best time with him. He chose the pieces we saw thoughtfully, and took time to see dive into their history and meanings. We will most definitely be recommending him to anyone visiting the Louvre!

Thibaud is a true historian, art lover, and dynamic storyteller. My family learned so much with him as our guide. He inspired us with his love for his job and appreciation for art but also the museum’s history.

John was exceptional. We couldn’t have asked for a better Louvre guide and had a wonderful afternoon exploring with him. 10 out of 10 for sure!
