You will begin at Via della Conciliazione, a modern processional road built by Mussolini in the 20th century, and from here, enter Bernini’s square, where your expert guide will go over the topography of the Vatican, and the precedents for the church that now stands there.

Once inside the Basilica, your guide will reveal the deeper stories behind the most famous works such as Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s Baldacchino, and how these masterpieces represent an example of the complex interplay of faith, power, and art throughout the ages.

You will then explore the Vatican Grottoes - the Tomb of the Popes, situated beneath the ancient foundations of the Basilica, and enjoy a rare look at this lesser-known part of the Vatican.

St. Peter's Basilica tickets are included in the price of the tour. This also includes the Vatican Grottoes - the Tomb of the Popes. The Treasury Museum, which is often visited during this tour, does not sell advance tickets. In this case, you will be responsible for purchasing these tickets during the tour. Your guide will help you in this process.

Depending on your group size, you may have headsets on the tour.

During the high season (Easter - September), Rome and the Vatican can see upwards of 35,000 visitors per day. It’s important to anticipate slower movement, limited visibility, and potential restrictions on accessing certain areas due to the density of crowds. Dress Code

Vatican policies require modest attire to respect the sanctity of the site. This generally includes covering shoulders and knees for both men and women. It's also advisable to wear comfortable footwear.

No, this tour does not include the Scavi. You will visit the Vatican Grottoes (Tomb of the Popes), and you might visit the Treasury Museum.

Great tour of this amazing building. Despite unusual crowds for this off-season day, our guide kept us engaged and moving, all the while answering all of our questions with ease. I didn’t understand why 3 hours were needed for the tour, and after seeing St. Peter’s, we could have easily spent 3 hours more. Giulia did an excellent job of guiding us through the Holy Doors and the entire art of St. Peter's, despite the crowds there for the end of the Jubilee Year. We started the tour with a view of St. Peter's as a church, and ended the tour seeing it as one of the world's museum masterpieces thanks to Giulia.
